In order to facilitate the safe meetings in real life that we want, we need to stay safe out there. Even though the Events are to take place in public, aWingIRL hopes that Wings and Friends will take these additional tips seriously while interacting with anyone met via aWingIRL or anywhere else, for that matter. Meeting new people can be fulfilling and rewarding, so let’s keep it that way while being smart about personal safety. In the context of an Event and for anytime you are meeting anyone new, please try to follow the following safety tips:
- MEET IN BUSY PUBLIC PLACE: This is key in order for the aWingIRL Services to be successful anyway – the more people around, the more there are for the Friend to choose from to meet. Busier places are generally safer because there are more people around to witness anything that might happen.
- PERSONAL TECHNOLOGY: Keep your personal technology charged so it is useable at all times.
- KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR LOCATION: Give someone else knowledge of your location, either with GPS or by telling people where you are and where you will be.
- SUBSTANCES: Be aware that alcohol and other drugs can lower your inhibitions and lower your reaction times, so be careful. These substances can also have unknown effects on those around you, so stay alert and guarded. One more thing – don’t leave your drinks or food unattended!
- EASY WAY OUT: Be in control of your own transportation so you can leave whenever you want to.
